Scope of ATM Card Services

ATM Services

  • Cash withdrawals 
    You can withdraw cash1 from your primary account2/designated account2 using a JETCO or UnionPay ATM, subject to a limit of HK$20,000 or its equivalent3 per card per calendar day.
  • Transfers
    • You can transfer any amount of funds between your primary account and/or any of your designated accounts using a JETCO ATM.
    • You can transfer funds from your primary account/designated account to other accounts held at BEA using a JETCO ATM, subject to a limit of HK$50,000 per card per calendar day.
    • You can transfer funds from your primary account/designated account to accounts held at other participating JETCO member banks using any ATM displaying the Interbank Transfer symbol, subject to a limit of HK$15,000 per card per calendar day. You can also transfer funds from accounts held at participating JETCO member banks to your primary account/designated account, subject to a deposit limit of HK$50,000 per account per calendar day.
  • JET PAYMENT
    You can make the following payments at any ATM displaying the JET PAYMENT symbol without prior registration:
    • Bill payments -- Pay various telecommunication, government, utility, insurance, and educational bills.
    • Credit card payments -- Settle the balances of credit cards issued by other JETCO member banks.
    • Charitable donations -- Make donations to various charitable organisations.
    The combined limit for JET PAYMENT, PPS, and JETCO POS is HK$100,000 per card per calendar day.
  • Deposits (available at selected BEA ATMs. Click here for details)
    You can deposit HKD notes/cheques to your primary account/designated account at any BEA branch ATM (coins and foreign currency notes/cheques not accepted). The daily accumulative of cash deposit limit is HK$100,000 per account, with a maximum number of 100 banknotes per transaction; and the maximum number of cheque deposit is 20 per transaction.   • Cheque Deposit Cut-off Time
    The cut-off time of ATM Cheque Deposit Service has been set to 5:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday (except public holidays) for all ATMs except those at Education University of Hong Kong and Silvermine Bay whose cut-off time has been set to 3:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday (except public holidays). Those cheques deposited before the cut-off time will be processed on the same clearing day while those cheques deposited after the cut-off time will be processed on the next clearing day.
  • Balance enquiries
    You can enquire about the balance of your primary account/designated account using:
    • JETCO or UnionPay ATMs -- If you enquire about the balance of your account using a UnionPay ATM, the balance amount will be shown in its equivalent in the relevant local currency.
    • Various interactive channels provided by the Hong Kong Jockey Club ("HKJC")4, including Customer Input Terminals, Mobile Betting Services, and the Online Betting Service.
  • Mandatory Provident Fund ("MPF")
    If you are a BEA MPF customer, you can use the following services at any BEA ATM without prior registration:
    • Fund balance enquiry4
    • Last contribution enquiry4
  • Statement/cheque book requests
    You can request an HKD Current Account/Multi-Currency Statement Savings Account statement or an HKD cheque book using any BEA/JETCO ATM. The statement/cheque book will be mailed to your address on record at BEA. If you request a cheque book using a BEA ATM, you can choose to have the cheque book delivered by ordinary mail (postage waived) or by registered mail (charge applies). However, if you request a cheque book using an ATM operated by another JETCO member bank, the cheque book will automatically be sent to you by ordinary mail. The service charge for a statement/cheque book delivered by registered mail will be debited from your transacting account.
  • Overseas Transaction Setting
    You can activate the overseas ATM cash withdrawal function of your ATM card before travelling by setting your card’s activation period and overseas daily withdrawal limit. The end date of the activation period can be up to 1 year from the start date or up to your card’s expiry date, whichever is earlier. The maximum limit for overseas withdrawal is HK$20,000 per card per calendar day. You are advised not to set the valid period for longer than needed, nor to set the withdrawal limit at significantly more than you will require.
  • Change of personal identification number ("PIN")
    You can change the 6-digit PIN by accessing your primary account at any JETCO ATM.
  • Change of display language (available at BEA ATMs only)
    You can change your ATM display language to Chinese or English by accessing your primary account at any BEA ATM.

Transfer payments

  • EPS
    • You can make payments without carrying cash at shops displaying the EPS symbol.
    • You can transfer funds from your primary account/designated account to any HKJC Telebet account using various interactive channels provided by the HKJC4.
    The combined limit for EPS services, UnionPay App and UnionPay POS is HK$50,000 per card per calendar day.
  • UnionPay App and UnionPay POS
    You can make payments at shops worldwide displaying the UnionPay symbol. The combined limit for EPS services, UnionPay App and UnionPay POS is HK$50,000 per card per calendar day. Both your PIN and signature are required when making UnionPay POS transaction. Please confirm that the name embossed on your ATM chip card is correct and sign the signature panel on the back of the card with a ball pen.
  • PPS
    You can settle various bills via PPS.
    The combined limit for JET PAYMENT, PPS, and JETCO POS is HK$100,000 per card per calendar day.
  • JETCO POS
    You can make direct payments at merchant locations displaying the JETCO logo in Macau.
    The combined limit for JET PAYMENT, PPS, and JETCO POS is HK$100,000 per card per calendar day.

Transfer deposits4

You can transfer funds from your Telebet account to your primary account/designated account using various interactive channels provided by the HKJC, subject to a limit of HK$200,000 per calendar day, and provided that the transferee's account number is registered in the HKJC's system. The amount transferred will be credited immediately.

China UnionPay

Obtain cash and make account balance enquiries at any ATM or make direct payments using any POS terminal displaying this symbol around the world. 

If there is  logo on your card face, tap your card at the sale point displaying QuickPass symbol and then enter your PIN to complete the payment without inserting your card.

   
jet payment Pay a variety of bills and make charitable donations without prior registration at any ATM displaying this symbol.
   
MPF Enquire about fund balances and recent contributions at any BEA ATM in Hong Kong without prior registration4.
   
EPS Make direct payments via the EPS system in Hong Kong, Macau, and Shenzhen. You can also transfer funds to/from your Telebet account at the HKJC4.
   
Interbank transfer Transfer funds from any BEA accounts for which you have an ATM card to accounts held at other participating JETCO member banks at any ATM displaying this symbol.

1 Using a Dual Currency ATM Card, you can withdraw cash in Hong Kong dollars or Renminbi from your designated account in the following situations:

* If withdrawal or transfer is made without sufficient funds in the designated account, BEA is not obliged to effect any such withdrawal or transfer and is entitled to refuse to effect such withdrawal or transfer, with or without cause, without incurring any liability whatsoever and without prior notice to the cardholder.

2 Primary account refers to the account of your ATM card while designated account refers to any other BEA account for which you have an ATM card. The Cyberbanking Card and Dual Currency ATM Card can only be used to withdraw cash from your designated account(s), and not your primary account.
3 For any transaction carried out in any currency other than Hong Kong currency, BEA shall have complete discretion to convert such foreign currency (including Renminbi) by any lawful means at BEA’s disposal and at BEA’s prevailing exchange rate with or without reference to or consent from the cardholder.
4 Not applicable to ATM cards held under a company name.

Interbank transfer disclaimer:

  • The customer's account will be debited on BEA's receipt of the interbank transfer request.
  • The receiving bank may credit received funds to the payee's account at a different time and BEA is not responsible as to when the transferred funds will actually be credited to the payee's account.
  • BEA is not responsible under any circumstances to recover any amount paid to the receiving banks and is not responsible if any receiving bank fails for any reason to pay the transferee.
  • The customer acknowledges that fund transfers to third party accounts involve risks, for example, payments to unauthorised third party accounts.
  • If a receiving bank is in default of the interbank settlement before the customer's payment has been made, the payment will not be completed and the debit entry in the customer's account will be reversed accordingly.
  • When funds are received through an ATM from the paying bank for the customer's account, BEA will credit the funds to the customer's account in accordance with BEA's existing practice.
  • BEA reserves the right at any time to reverse any credit to the customer's account if the paying bank fails for any reason to make payment to BEA.

Notes for all ATM card customers:

  • To ensure that you can withdraw cash overseas (including the Chinese Mainland and Macau), please activate the overseas ATM cash withdrawal function of your ATM card via BEA Online (at an local ATM, BEA Online, BEA Mobile or Phone Banking) before travelling.
  • Customers with Renminbi deposits in a Multi-Currency Statement Savings Account can access Renminbi cash withdrawal and balance enquiry services at selected BEA ATMs in Hong Kong and UnionPay ATMs in the Chinese Mainland.
  • A minimum cash withdrawal of HK$300 is required at ATMs operated by other JETCO member banks in Hong Kong. This minimum requirement does not apply to the ATMs operated by BEA.
  • If an annual fee will be levied, it will be automatically debited from your primary or designated account according to the ATM card type and deposit currency. BEA will inform you of the card fee due date one month in advance via BEA ATM on-screen message.
  • The services and networks mentioned above may not be applicable to some ATM card types. Please visit any BEA branch or call the ATM Card Service Hotline on (852) 2211 1818 for details.
  • If a UnionPay ATM terminal, UnionPay App or UnionPay POS terminal does not enable account selection, transactions will relate to your primary account by default.
  • If you are an i-Account/BEA GOAL/Supreme Account/SupremeGold Account/SupremeGold Private/Private Banking Account/CorporatePlus Account customer, your primary account will be your HKD Current Account and your primary designated account will be your Multi-Currency Statement Savings Account.
  • If your ATM card/PIN is lost or stolen or if someone else learns your PIN, please inform us immediately by visiting any BEA branch, logging in to BEA Online, or calling our hotline on (852) 2211 1862 or (852) 2211 1818.
  • Cardholders may be liable for all losses if they have acted with fraudulence or gross negligence, or if they fail to inform the Bank as soon as reasonably possible in any such event.

  • Please be aware that the card number embossed on your ATM card is not your account number. You can find your account number printed in your bank statements and passbook.

Notes for Private Banking Card, SupremeGold Private Card, SupremeGold Card, Supreme Card, BEA GOAL Card, i-Account Card, and CorporatePlus Card Customers:

If account descriptions are not available when you perform card transactions through certain channels (including but not limited to ATM, EPS, PPS, POS, and HKJC), your Current and Statement Savings Accounts will be identified using the following numbers placed before the account number instead:
2 = Current Account
5 = Statement Savings Account
