The Bank of East Asia

About BEA

Learning & Development

BEA regards its employees as the Bank’s most important asset. We invest ample resources in staff learning and development with the aim of continuously equipping our employees with the best knowledge, skills, experience and soundness of judgment to discharge their duties professionally and enable them to find professional fulfilment.

Comprehensive Learning and Development Solutions

Learning opportunities are provided to employees starting from their first day joining BEA. In addition to induction training, the development of BEA employees is supported by the Bank’s comprehensive training curriculums covering a wide range of knowledge and skills which include product and financial knowledge, operations and compliance know-how, customer service and sales, personal and management skills, business communication skills, and skills in applying information technology.

People development at BEA is not confined to in-house training. Employees are sponsored to attend external training and education programmes whenever deemed necessary. Mentoring, on-the-job coaching, job attachment and job rotation are also means deployed to enrich the knowledge and experience of employees with development potential. The learning and development needs of employees are reviewed annually to guide the Bank’s people development solutions in the right direction.

Support for Qualifications Pursuance and Career Progression

BEA encourages life-long learning. Awards are offered to those employees who obtain bank-recognised professional qualifications and achieve outstanding performance in related professional examinations. Moreover, a variety of trainee programmes and career development programmes are in place to groom talented employees into future leaders of the Bank and major contributors of the Bank's business endeavours.

Public Recognition

BEA’s achievements in manpower training and development are recognised by the Employees Retraining Board of Hong Kong, which has named BEA a “Manpower Developer” since April 2012.  Recently BEA is granted as “Super MDs” to further recognise the exemplary performance and continuous achievements for 10 consecutive years to the Scheme.

Additionally, BEA is the first bank in Hong Kong to be qualified by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications to conduct programmes up to Qualifications Framework (“QF”) Level 4. Two of our in-house programmes, namely the “Certificate in Customer Services Representative” (客戶服務代表證書) and “Certificate in Personal Banking Officer” (個人理財主任證書) have attained the standards of QF Level 3 and Level 4 respectively.
