Mr. Li, aged 49, first joined the Bank Group in 2002. He was General Manager & Head of Wealth Management Division of the Bank from 2004 to 2009. He was appointed Deputy Chief Executive in 2009, Executive Director in 2014 and Co-Chief Executive in 2019. He is responsible for the overall management and control of the Bank Group with a particular focus on its Chinese Mainland and international businesses. He serves on the boards of several Bank Group members as Chairman or as a Member.

Mr. Li is currently an Independent Non-executive Director of Towngas Smart Energy Company Limited (listed in Hong Kong), China Overseas Land & Investment Limited (listed in Hong Kong) and Guangdong Investment Limited (listed in Hong Kong). He was an Independent Non-executive Director of Shenzhen Investment Holdings Bay Area Development Company Limited (listed in Hong Kong).

Mr. Li holds a number of public and honorary positions, including being a Member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and a Vice Chairman of its Committee on Social and Legal Affairs, a Member of the Chief Executive’s Council of Advisers of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region ("HKSAR"), a Director of the Financial Services Development Council, a Member of the Process Review Panel for the Securities and Futures Commission, a Board Member of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park Limited, a Member of the Disaster Relief Fund Advisory Committee, and a Vice Chairman of the Asian Financial Cooperation Association.

Mr. Li is a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He is also a Member of the Hong Kong Academy of Finance, an Honorary Certified Banker of The Hong Kong Institute of Bankers and a Full Member of the Treasury Markets Association. He holds an MBA degree from Stanford University as well as a BA degree from the University of Cambridge.

Mr. Li is the son of Dr. the Hon. Sir David Li Kwok-po, the nephew of Professor Arthur Li Kwok-cheung, Mr. Aubrey Li Kwok-sing and Mr. Stephen Charles Li Kwok-sze, and the brother of Mr. Adrian David Li Man-kiu.
