Can I apply without a BEA Account?

You can apply for an All-in-One Account (Personal) anytime through BEA Mobile. Account opening is instant, and approval can be completed in as little as two days. After opening an account, you can apply for a Multi-Currency Debit Card.

Does the Multi-Currency Debit Card have a cash withdrawal function?

Yes, you can use it as an ATM Card to withdraw cash from local and overseas ATMs with no service fees.

Remark:
A fee of HK$30 per transaction will be charged for local cash withdrawals at non-JETCO member banks’ ATMs bearing the “Mastercard” or “Cirrus”.

If the withdrawal currency is not one of the 10 supported foreign currencies, the withdrawal amount will be converted directly into Hong Kong dollars based on Mastercard's daily exchange rate, and a transaction fee of 1.95% of such amount in Hong Kong dollar will be levied by BEA.

Local banks may impose a charge for each cash withdrawal. The charge will be converted into foreign currency and debited together with the withdrawal amount from your account. These charges are directly levied by the overseas ATM operators and are not charged by BEA.

Do I need to enter a password when making a payment?

No password is required for both contact and contactless payments. For online transactions, transaction authentication is required using either a one-time password (OTP) via SMS or i-Token.

How do I change my rewards mode?

You can change your rewards mode to "Cash Rebate" or "Bonus Points" in BEA Mobile > Menu> Debit Cards > Manage Card > Spending rewards setting. The default setting is “Cash Rebate”, and any change on the setting will take effect on the 1st day of the following month.

How are foreign currency purchases or withdrawals debited?

This can vary depending on circumstances.

The transaction is in one of the 10 supported foreign currencies:

  • If your balance in the relevant foreign currency is sufficient: The corresponding foreign currency will be debited directly from your account.
  • If your balance in the relevant foreign currency is insufficient and "Automatic Currency Conversion" is enabled: Your payment will be converted to Hong Kong dollars before being debiting.

The transaction is not in one of the 10 supported foreign currencies:

  • The transaction amount will be converted into Hong Kong dollars based on Mastercard’s daily exchange rate, then debited.

"Automatic Currency Conversion" is enabled by default. If it is disabled and your foreign currency balance is insufficient, the transaction will be rejected.
