Special Reminder to Employers (28th Mar, 2023)
Contribution Day for March – According to the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Ordinance, the contribution day for monthly – paid employees is the 10th day of each month. Since 10th April, 2023 falls on a public holiday, the MPF contribution day for March 2023 is extended to 11th April, 2023 (Tuesday). Employers are reminded to act early to avoid delay in making contributions, owing to the public holidays on 5th , 7th and 8th April 2023 as well.
Apart from directly making contributions and submitting the remittance statement to us, employers are encouraged to make use of various digital means to handle MPF contributions in a timely manner. Late payment will be subject to a surcharge calculated at 5% of the amount of default contributions.
Real-name Registration for SIM Cards (23rd Feb, 2023)
The Telecommunications (Registration of SIM Cards) Regulation (the "Regulation") has come into effect on 1st September, 2021. The Regulation requires that users should complete real-name registration for their SIM cards with their telecommunications service providers from 1st March, 2022.
- All newly effective SIM service plans ("SSP") and new pre-paid SIM (“PPS”) cards will require real-name registration before activation.
- Existing PPS card users are required to complete real-name registration with respective telecommunications service providers on or before 23rd February, 2023. Thereafter, unregistered PPS cards will be deactivated.
- Existing SSP users are not required to re-register with their telecommunications service providers unless they change to another service provider or subscribe to a new phone number.
Please note that any unregistered PPS cards will be deactivated after 23rd February, 2023. If your PPS card for your contact phone number in the BEA MPF’s record is not registered by then, you may not be able to:
- conduct certain Cyberbanking services that are required to receive a one-time password (“OTP”) via short message service (“SMS”) for authentication;
- receive SMS notifications from the BEA MPF; and
- receive phone calls from the BEA MPF for important messages or certain information which may require your confirmation.
The above list is not exhaustive.
Please note that the BEA MPF services will be delayed or, in worst-case scenario, not executed if your contact phone number is not up-to-date. As such, you are hereby reminded to promptly complete the real-name registration for your PPS cards with your telecommunications service provider, and update the contact phone number(s) for your BEA MPF account, if necessary, by completing the “Member – Change of Personal Details” form and returning it through BEA branch or mail to MPF Administration Centre, 32nd Floor, BEA Tower, Millennium City 5, 418 Kwun Tong Road, Kowloon, Hong Kong.

Updates on The MPF Scheme Brochures and Key Scheme Information Documents of BEA MPF Schemes (22nd Sep, 2022)
The MPF Scheme Brochures of the BEA (MPF) Master Trust Scheme, BEA (MPF) Value Scheme and BEA (MPF) Industry Scheme (collectively “BEA MPF Schemes”) have been revised through the Addendum that issued on 22nd September, 2022.
With effect from 19th September, 2022, the manager of Tracker Fund of Hong Kong (“TraHK”), the underlying approved ITCIS of the BEA Hong Kong Tracker Funds of BEA MPF Schemes, was changed from State Street Global Advisors Asia Limited to Hang Seng Investment Management Limited. There is no change to the investment objective of TraHK or the BEA Hong Kong Tracker Fund as a result of the change. In addition, the investment manager fee and trustee fee at the underlying fund level of the BEA Hong Kong Tracker Funds are reduced.

Key Scheme Information Document of BEA MPF Schemes (29th Jun, 2022)
With effect from 30th June, 2022, as per the revised Code on Disclosure for MPF Investment Funds issued by the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (the "MPFA"), the key scheme information document ("KSID") will be available. The KSID will form part of the offering document of the BEA MPF schemes, namely BEA (MPF) Master Trust Scheme, BEA (MPF) Value Scheme and BEA (MPF) Industry Scheme.
The KSID will help provide members with key scheme information relating to the BEA MPF schemes in a simplified and standardised format prescribed by the MPFA. That said, while the KSID could facilitate members to obtain an overview of the key details and features of the BEA MPF schemes, members should not make investment decisions based solely on the KSID.
The introduction of the KSID would not result in any changes to the features of the BEA MPF schemes and the contents of the constitutive documents of the BEA MPF schemes.

Special Business Arrangements for BEA MPF Administration Centre & Temporarily Suspended Service of Certain BEA Branches (2nd Mar, 2022)
In view of the latest development of COVID-19, the customer services counter of BEA MPF Administration Centre situated in Kwun Tong will be temporarily suspended service until further notice, in an effort to safeguard the health of our customers and staff members. Our hotline services will continue to operate as normal. In respect of the Executive Order 13959 (as amended) signed by the former President of the United States of America "Addressing the Threat from Securities Investments that Finance Communist Chinese Military Companies" (the “Executive Order”), because the prohibitions under the Executive Order only apply to the activities of any person or entity which falls within the definition of “U.S. Persons” under the Executive Order (“U.S. Person(s)”), U. S. New Addendum for BEA (MPF) Master Trust Scheme and BEA (MPF) Industry Scheme (19th Mar, 2021)
The MPF Scheme Brochures of the BEA (MPF) Master Trust Scheme and BEA (MPF) Industry Scheme have been revised through the Addendum, to be issued on 19th March, 2021. This will include changes in relation to the management fee reduction of certain constituent funds and the disclosure of risk factors associated with certain constituent funds. The aggregate management fee of certain constituent funds have been reduced effective from 1st January, 2021. The disclosure of new risk factors with effect from 19th March, 2021.

Updates on Explanatory Memoranda of BEA MPF Schemes (31st Mar, 2020)
Explanatory Memoranda of the three BEA MPF schemes have been revised and issued on 31st March, 2020. This will include changes in relation to the regulatory changes relating to automatic exchange of financial account information, the latest requirements of the Code on Disclosure for MPF Investment Funds (the "Code") issued by the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority and certain miscellaneous changes.
Please note that the updates on the Explanatory Memoranda which reflect the latest requirements of the Code include: (i) the sequence of the contents has been rejigged to be in line with the requirements of the Code; (ii) the contents have been updated in an easy-to-understand and concise manner to enhance readability and clarity; and (iii) the Explanatory Memoranda will be renamed as the “MPF Scheme Brochure” for the purpose of standardisation.The update to the Explanatory Memoranda per the Code would not in itself result in changes to the operation and features of the relevant schemes.

Pursuant to the requirements of the Code on the disclosure of risk class1 of constituent funds, the related webpages and administrative forms (including the relevant “Member - Membership Application Form” and “Member - Participation Agreement”) of BEA MPF had also been updated accordingly. The fund risk indicator shows the annualised standard deviation based on the monthly rates of return of the constituent funds over the past 3 years to the reporting date of the latest Fund Fact Sheet, which is published on a quarterly basis.

Due to temporary suspension of Hongkong Post’s post office counter service, mail delivery service and mail collection from posting boxes from 29th January, 2020 to 2nd February, 2020, employers are encouraged to make early arrangement for MPF contributions in order to avoid any surcharges being imposed due to postal delays. In addition, employers can also make contribution payment on or before the contribution day using suitable payment channel and method below:
- paying cheque at any BEA branch / MPF Administration Centre
- making direct debit payments from your BEA bank account
- making payments through Corporate Cyberbanking
- making payments by eCheque1

Automatic Exchange of Financial Account Information to be implemented for MPF Schemes and ORSO Registered Schemes on 1st January, 2020 (31st Dec, 2019)
Pursuant to the Inland Revenue (Amendment) (No.2) Ordinance 2019 (“Amendment Ordinance”), the amendment of the taxation arrangement for the Automatic Exchange of Financial Account Information in Tax Matters (“AEOI”) relating to MPF schemes and ORSO registered schemes will take effect on 1st January, 2020.
Starting from the effective date of the Amendment Ordinance, account holders for all newly opened accounts under MPF and ORSO registered schemes will be required to submit a self-certification to the MPF trustees or ORSO employers/administrators for verifying their tax residency. If an applicant fails to provide the self-certification or if the required information is incomplete, the account opening may be rejected, causing a delay in contributions.
In this connection, BEA MPF had updated all the relevant "Members - Membership Application Form”, “Participation Agreements” by adding the "Tax Resident Self-Certification’’ section and newly developed the “Self-Certification” to facilitate members in making the declaration. Calling for Good MPF Employers in 2018-19! (4th April, 2019)
The Good MPF Employer Award 2018-19, organized by the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA), is inviting applications.
The Good MPF Employer Award aims to promote and foster employer compliance with MPF legislation; encourage employers to provide better retirement benefits for their employees; and recognize employers who are exemplary in enhancing the retirement benefits of their employees.
Employers who are interested to the Award can simply submit an application online on MPFA’s Good MPF Employer Award website. Alternatively, employers can submit their applications through email, fax or post. The application deadline is 30 June.

Tax Deductible Voluntary Contribution (“TVC”) is Now Launched (1st April, 2019)
The Inland Revenue and MPF Schemes Legislation (Tax Deductions for Annuity Premiums and MPF Voluntary Contributions) (Amendment) Bill 2018 takes effect on 1st April, 2019. Starting from the effective date, similar to premiums paid for qualifying deferred annuity products, MPF voluntary contributions made in a specified account set-up by MPF scheme members (namely, TVC account) can also enjoy tax concession in order for them to meet the long-term saving objective for retirement protection.
Explanatory Memoranda (version dated April 2019) of the three BEA MPF schemes have been revised through the First Addenda, to be issued on 1st April, 2019. This will include changes in relation to the features and restrictions of TVC.
Pursuant to the launch of TVC, related webpages, leaflet and administrative forms of BEA MPF had also been updated accordingly. To know more about TVC, please visit our TVC dedicated webpage.

Go Paperless — Opt for e-Statements Now (27th Dec, 2018)
From now on, BEA MPF members can choose to opt out from paper based MPF statements and switch to use the e-statement service through their Cyberbanking account instead.

BEA Trustees Named “The Best MPF Trustee” (30th Nov, 2018)
Bank of East Asia (Trustees) Limited (“BEA Trustees”) has been named “The Best MPF Trustee” in the Metro Awards for Banking & Finance Corporations 2018.
Metro Awards for Banking & Finance Corporations 2018 was jointly organised by Metro Prosperity and Metro Daily, with the aim of recognising outstanding performance in the banking and finance sector. BEA MPF had launched a whole new online enrolment platform to allow casual employees to enrol for BEA (MPF) Industry scheme anytime and anywhere by just a few steps.
The online enrolment platform is accessible on computer, tablet and mobile phone with responsive design to ensure the best user experience. Casual employees can even use e-signature to complete the enrolment instantly when accessing the platform by mobile phone or tablet, which is quick and simple.

A pledging ceremony of the Governance Charter for MPF Trustees held on 24th May, 2018 (29th May, 2018)
All Mandatory Provident Fund (“MPF”) trustees pledged to put scheme members’ interests first at a pledging ceremony for upholding the Governance Charter for MPF Trustees (“Charter”), held by the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (“MPFA”) on 24th May, 2018.
All MPF trustees recognise the importance of good governance and commit to uphold and abide by the core values as advocated by the Charter at all times.

MPFA Good MPF Employer Award 2017-18: Now Accepting Applications (10th Apr, 2018)
The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority ("MPFA") runs the Good MPF Employer Award ("GMEA") every year to recognise employers who place a high value on their employees’ retirement needs.
Awarded companies and organisations will be listed on the MPFA website for public reference. In addition, awardees will be entitled to use the GMEA logo on their promotional materials.
Employers can submit applications on or before 30th June, 2018. Employees can also nominate their employers for the Award. Please refer to the leaflet or visit the GMEA website for details.

Update on BEA MPF Participation Agreements (26th Feb, 2018)
Pursuant to the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing (Financial Institutions) (Amendment) Ordinance 2018 that commence on 1st March, 2018, trust service providers are required to comply with the statutory customer due diligence and record-keeping requirements.
In this regard, the Participation Agreements of Employer, Personal Account Holder and Self-employed Person of BEA MPF will be updated on the same day. You can access to the related forms from the “Download Area” of this website.

Please note that the effective date of the changes in relation to Phased Withdrawal and miscellaneous changes will be 31st January, 2018, while the changes in relation to the BEA China Tracker Funds will come into effect on 5th March, 2018.
