Summer Internship Programme

BEA is committed to developing young talents. We are pleased to announce our participation in The Scheme on Corporate Summer Internship on the Mainland and Overseas 2019 launched by the HKSAR Government to offer exciting internship opportunities to undergraduates. Interns will enjoy a fruitful internship journey in Mainland China for 8 weeks with structured training and practical on-the-job learning opportunities. Upon completion of the programme, interns will acquire basic understanding of the workplace culture and career prospects of the Mainland and with interpersonal networks expanded. Top performers may also be given the chance to join our Management Trainee Programme or Retail Management Trainee Programme upon completion.

Internship Period

July to August 2019 (8 weeks)


Summer Intern - Greater Bay Area

Responsibilities
  • To be a team member of BEA (China) Limited, stationing in Shenzhen, Guangzhou or Zhuhai office, for 8 weeks in July and August 2019
  • To provide sales & services support and conduct market research
  • To provide general administration and support to the team or department
Requirements
  • Undergraduate students in Year 1 or above or postgraduate students, preferably majoring in Finance, Economics or Accounting
  • Proactive and willing to learn
  • Good communication and analytical skills
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office
  • Good command of both spoken and written English and Chinese, including Putonghua
  • Holder of valid Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card

Summer Intern – Shenzhen

1. Student Programmer

Responsibilities
  • To be a programmer in BEA’s IT Development Centre in Shenzhen for 8 weeks in July and August 2019
  • To work closely with project team members to enhance and enrich existing applications
  • To research or conduct analysis and evaluation on existing systems, keep abreast of the latest trends in technology to identify and develop new solutions to meet business goals
  • To participate in software development lifecycle, concentrated on development, and collaborate closely with other software developers
Requirements
  • Currently third-year undergraduate students majoring in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline
  • Knowledge of programming languages
  • Experience with Java programming is preferable
  • Knowledge of mobile application development is an advantage
  • A good team player with good communication and problem solving skills
  • Creative, flexible and willing to take on challenges
  • Good command of both spoken and written English and Chinese, including Putonghua
  • Holder of valid Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card

2. Research Assistant

Responsibilities
  • To be a research assistant in BEA’s IT Development Centre in Shenzhen for 8 weeks in July and August 2019
  • To work closely with innovation team members to conduct research on local and global fintech trend
  • To perform evaluation on the use of latest technology and innovative products and services in banking industry
  • To support other activities in the Technology Innovation Team
Requirements
  • Currently third-year undergraduate students majoring in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline
  • Knowledge of programming languages is preferable
  • A good team player with good communication and problem solving skills
  • Creative, flexible and willing to take on challenges
  • Good command of both spoken and written English and Chinese, including Putonghua
  • Holder of valid Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card

Remarks: BEA will provide accommodation and shoulder the travel expenses from HK to Greater Bay Area or vice versa and visa applications fee, if applicable, for the stay in Mainland China.

 

The Scheme on Corporate Summer Internship on the Mainland and Overseas 2019 is a joint initiative between the HKSAR Government, The Bank of East Asia, Limited (“BEA”) and 17 other major companies in Hong Kong. Any student who is interested in applying for an internship placement offered by BEA under the Scheme should submit his/her application through the Government’s central online application system (www.ydc.gov.hk/scsi/) by 22 March 2019 23:59 HKT. BEA will not be accepting applications from students direct at this stage.
