BEA Launches “Dear Lady Insurance” Plan,
Providing Comprehensive Protection Tailored for Today's Women

Hong Kong, 8 October 2002 – The Bank of East Asia (BEA) has expanded its range of innovative Bancassurance products with the introduction today of the “Dear Lady Insurance” plan. The new plan is tailor-made for the needs of today’s woman. And for a limited introductory period, everyone who enrols in any of BEA’s Bancassurance plans will be eligible for very special lucky draw prizes.

At the kick-off ceremony for Dear Lady Insurance, H. S. Tong, BEA’s General Manager and Head of Personal Banking, said: “Nowadays, more and more women are taking steps toward achieving financial independence and security. With the average life expectancy of women longer than that of men, it is increasingly important for women to plan well for their futures. Dear Lady Insurance helps women make provision now for unforeseen expenses in their retirement years.”

The “Dear Lady Insurance” plan provides whole life insurance protection, critical illness benefit, female diseases benefit, free medical check-up and waiver of premium benefit. In addition, the plan will pay a Guaranteed Cash Bonus of 5% of the basic sum insured every five years. By the end of the 20th policy year, a special guaranteed cash bonus of 20% of the basic sum insured will be paid as a long-service benefit.

Pregnancy is one of the most rewarding experiences of a woman’s life. Yet the joy of pregnancy can also be a time of anxiety and worry. The Dear Lady Insurance scheme features an optional “Maternity Benefit Rider”, providing peace of mind before and through a pregnancy.
