Dalian Branch of The Bank of
East Asia
now licensed to offer
Renminbi services
Hong
Kong, 6 June 2002 – The
Bank of East Asia (BEA) today announced that it has obtained official
approval to offer Renminbi services to its customers from Dalian Branch
in China.
BEA has announced earlier that all of its seven branches and one
sub-branch in China are accredited to provide full foreign currency
services to customers, including local enterprises and residents.
In 1998, BEA obtained approval to offer Renminbi services from
its Shanghai and Shenzhen branches to clients.
With this announcement, the Bank now has three branches in China
to operate Renminbi businesses, and is thus far one of the foreign banks
having the largest number of licences to offer Renminbi services on the
Mainland.
