FUND DESCRIPTION

Trends in Global Themes Are What Count
The world is changing faster than ever. Given the increasingly integrated global market environment and pressure for globalisation, we at BEA regard the business area in which a company operates to be more crucial than its physical location. Based on this view, it is also our belief that investment portfolios should not be confined to any particular region, as investment opportunities emerge every day in different locations around the world. Our belief is substantiated by the following rationale:
Global diversification can help to mitigate region-specific risks of downturn, since economies and currencies of individual countries develop independently of one another.
The dynamic global economic environment may open up new, innovative investment concepts for investors to access best-performing markets.
A broader spectrum of investments allows investors to look beyond the limited scope of a regional focus and reveals an abundance of global investment opportunities.
In view of this, we believe that it is more important to analyse individual companies than countries or regions to identify the potentially lucrative investment opportunities. Based on this philosophy, BEA has launched its innovative investment fund, the BEA Global Themes Fund (the "Fund").

Fund Investment Strategies
To create an All-season Portfolio with different categories of themes for strong performance in all market sentiments
To cast a global net and seek best-in-class companies with potential long-term capital growth, regardless of domicile
STRENGTHS OF THE FUND
A Benchmark-Liberated Design
The logistics for formulating asset allocation is based on a top-down thematic framework and a bottom-up stock selection process. This investment strategy is not bound by any benchmark, or forced to invest in any specific sector or region. The Fund will focus on equities of listed securities, preferred shares, and warrants that a company is expected to benefit from, and current or future political, social, or economic trends worldwide ¡V all of which give the Fund enhanced flexibility to explore stocks with high capital growth potential. |
Cycle-Independent Style
Regardless of the direction taken by global markets, our fund manager employs a stock-picking approach based upon the recognised trends of the Fund. In addition, the fund manager talks directly to the management team of the selected companies in order to make a more accurate assessment of stock value, and seeks best-in-class companies in developed and emerging markets. |
Global Diversification by a Wide Range of Themes
With a highly diversified portfolio in global markets and a large pool of continuously identified thematic ideas*, the Fund offers lower price volatility due to little correlation among themes. In other words, investors can benefit from a lower risk portfolio in a volatile market.
* |
Fund managers may determine how many themes are monitored or incorporated entirely at their own discretion. |
HOW DOES AN ALL-SEASON PORTFOLIO WORK?
The strategy of All-season Portfolio is to allocate assets in different investments themes with a balanced investment approach, striving to outperform in all market conditions. With the investment philosophy in mind, the Fund is to be constructed from the following three categories of investment themes:
Positive Market Environment
Including growth themes with stocks that are expected to benefit from rising markets.
Weak Market Environment
Comprising defensive themes with stocks that are expected to deliver stable return in a volatile environment.
Independent of the Market Environment
Including themes with price anomalies and low correlation, so that stocks can perform consistently across a complete market cycle. |
The Fund's management team shall adjust the weighting of each category of themes with its relative importance according to market trend. If the market environment is vigorous, the weighting of themes in positive market environment category shall be increased, or vice versa.
FUND INVESTMENT PROCESS
Generate Investment Themes
The Fund's management team gathers data for analysis and defines the themes that can provide potential capital growth in the long-run.
Theme Screening and Stock Picking
The Fund's management team creates cluster of thematic ideas for the Fund and incorporates them when they recognise high capital growth potential. The team also selects quality stocks after conducting fundamental research to valuate the investment potential of individual companies.

Portfolio Optimisation
Based on the criteria of logic, cash-flow detectors, and sustainability, the Fund's management team optimises the portfolio by weighting each stock according to the expectations with regard to risk and potential reward.

Note: The exact composition of the portfolio may vary from that shown in diagram and is subject to the Fund managers' final decision. |
