Chart 1: Despite recovery of the property market, declines in loans to property developments and investments as well as to consumer finance continue.

Chart 2: Growth of credit card advances dropped to single digit for the first time in over a decade.

Chart 3: The possibility of another interest rate hike in both the US and Hong Kong by the year-end would undermine the prospect of the property market. As a result, the average property prices in both Hong Kong Island and Kowloon edged down in June. |
